About SSI Screenwriters Lab
The SSI Screenwriters Lab is led by award-winning screenwriter Tori Larsen, who has worked on productions such as SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE WORLD, DEVIL, SUITS, 11.22.63, & THE HANDMAID'S TALE, for studios including Hulu, Netflix, MGM, & Warner Brothers, & who has pitched at all major studios in Hollywood & broadcasters in Toronto, with scripts optioned in both America & Canada.
She produced the short film WE ARE HERE (Patrick J. Adams) & wrote, directed, & produced the shorts THE GOOD DEATH & MARIE CELESTE, both of which received international festival recognition, including a world premiere at Cambridge Film Festival & US premiere at Bentonville Film Festival.
As a screenwriter, Tori has worked in the writers rooms for Netflix shows TESTAMENT: MOSES & WINTER PALACE, as well as developed shows in Canada and LA. She has been recognized by The Nicholl Fellowship, Austin Film Festival, Writer's Guild Festival, Tribeca Film Festival, Page International, ScreenCraft, & CineStory, & has received mentorship from multiple Academy Award winning screenwriters.
Tori balances her time between SSI, Toronto, & LA.

April 2024 Lab
The inaugural Salt Spring Island Screenwriters Lab was held in April of 2024, created as an intimate creative experience for ten writers to develop their craft & receive expert guidance. This Lab was a great success with deep learning, fascinating discussions, & significant story breakthroughs. Strong creative connections were formed that have resulted in writing groups & collaborations. Several attendees have also received additional story consultation from Tori for their specific projects. Because a significant waitlist formed in April, the Lab is back this autumn to further bolster creativity on Salt Spring Island!
